    The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos basketball teams hosted Ogallala Saturday night for the NSAA Jamboree games. Proceeds from the pre-season games went to the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame.
    WP will be led throughout the season by seniors Faith Simpson (above) and Cash Yearous (below). The Broncos first regular season games will be Thursday (tonight) when WP hosts Wallace.

Cattle Trail Tournament to be held Dec. 5, 8, 9

Following Wauneta-Palisade’s season opening games against Wallace and McPherson County this week, McCook’s annual Cattle Trail Tournament will take over the first full week of December.
    In the boys’ division, WP will open the tournament against Decatur Community Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. MT/5 p.m. CT at McCook Senior High.
    Whether WP wins or loses, it will play on Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. MT/5 p.m. CT. A win will put WP at McCook Community College against the winner of Hitchcock County and Medicine Valley. A loss leads to another game at McCook Senior High against the Hitchcock County/MV loser.
    First round games in the other half of the bracket are Dundy County-Stratton against Maywood/Hayes Center and Arapahoe against Southwest.
    The final day of the tournament will be Dec. 9. The championship game for the boys will be played at MCC at 6 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT.
    The consolation game begins at 3 p.m .MT/4 p.m. CT at MCC.
    Both the fifth and seventh place games will be played at 1:30 p.m. MT/2:30 p.m. CT. The fifth place game will be at MCC and the seventh place game at the senior high school.
    The WP girls’ team will play Southwest at 2:30 p.m. MT/3:30 p.m. at the senior high gym.
    Like the boys, the Bronco girls will play at the same time for their second round game, 2:30 p.m. MT/3:30 p.m. CT.
