Broncos start busy week at Cambridge, at McCook Thursday

It’s another week with two meets for the Wauneta-Palisade track teams.
The Broncos were in Cambridge Monday for the Don Stine Invite.
“The wind and temperature was awful but that didn’t stop our team,” said WP Hoach Coach Dawn Doetker.
WP set 13 personal bests at the meet, which Doekter said was amazing considering the weather.
Placing for the WP boys’ team were Cash Yearous, first, 1,600 meter run; Ben Anderjaska, fifth, 1,600 meter run; Joel Maris, fourth, 800 meter dash and sixth, 400 meter dash; Duncan Rector, fourth in the 110 meter high hurdles (PR) and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles; Greg Gaston, first in the  high jump and third in the 300 meter hurdles; and Dennis Cavanaugh, sixth, shot put.
A lean at the end gave Yearous the 1,600 meter win in a photo finish and earned him the traveling plaque for a second year in a row.
“Back-to-back champion in the 1600 at Cambridge is very hard to do,” Doetker said.
All three relays placed once again. The 4x800 (Anderjaska, Maris, Brody Nordhausen and Yearous) placed first, the 4x400 (Dalton Harchelroad, Nordhausen, Austen Rozelle, Gaston) was third and the 4x100 (Rozelle, Nordhausen, Harchelroad, Gaston) was fourth.
