Broncos silence Warriors on gridiron, host playoff game

The Wauneta-Palisade football team wasted no time taking control of its final regular-season game. The Broncos jumped all over a young Leyton/Banner County team Friday in Dalton.
WP spent the majority of the first half on the Warriors’ side of the field. The Broncos received the opening kickoff and relied on their running game to quickly drive 39 yards for a touchdown. Ben Anderjaska, Duncan Rector and Dalton Harchelroad each had runs of over 10 yards on the drive.
After forcing a Leyton/Banner County punt, WP scored two plays later on a 34-yard pass from Rector to Anderjaska.
Little time ran off the clock during the Warriors’ next possession. Leyton/Banner County threw three incomplete passes before punting back to WP.
Following a 25-yard run from Austen Rozelle, Rector earned his second touchdown pass by hooking up with Joel Maris.
With two minutes gone in the game, WP led 20-0.
