Broncos fourth at Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook
After an opening round win over Decatur Community, the Wauneta-Palisade boys’ team ended up fourth at the Cattle Trail Tournament.

For the second year in a row, WP opened the tournament with a 80-43 win over Decatur Community.
Seven players scored in the first quarter, including three-pointers by Ben Anderjaska, Cash Yearous, Dennis Cavanaugh and Tucker Boos.
The offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter with nine players scoring.
WP led 45-23 at halftime.
The offense continued to click in the second half when WP scored another 35 points.
Overall, Yearous made five three-pointers and led WP with 19 points. Duncan Rector made six field goals and totaled 14 points. Austen Rozelle and Cavanaugh each scored nine points.
WP made 12-of-29 three-pointers in the game and 19-of-39 two-point field goals
Rozelle grabbed six rebounds and Joel Maris and Rector each pulled down five rebounds.
Rector led the Broncos with six assists. Yearous and Ty Duvel each had five steals.
Semifinal loss
Friday WP lost a brutal game to Medicine Valley.
WP struggled to find a shooting rhythm in the first quarter, when it was outscored 6-13. The woes continued in the second quarter and WP trailed 14-29 at halftime as the Broncos couldn’t contain Medicine Valley on the low block.
WP showed signs of life coming out of the locker room. The Broncos scored the first six points of the second half and cut its deficit to 20-33 before the Raiders pulled away once more.
The teams combined to only make three field goals in the fourth quarter and the game finished with a score of 36-51.
Rector finished with 10 points and Yearous nine for WP. Yearous led WP with six rebounds and four steals while Rector had three steals, five rebounds and five assists.
