The Wauneta-Palisade speech team competed at four in-season meets before competing at districts at North Platte High School March 15.
    All students that participated in the 2018-19 speech season were first-year team members.
    Members were freshmen Katlynn Parrish, Olivia Behrends and Kelsey Allen; sophomore Kailee Allen; and senior Harlee Brewer.
    “Lucy Dreaming” By Stacy Lane was performed by Parrish and Behrends, taking fourth in Novice Duet at the in-season North Platte speech meet.
    Persuasive: “Nebraska’s Foster System” performed by Kelsey Allen, took fourth place in Persuasive at  District speech in North Platte.
    The top three competitors go to state at Kearney in each event category.
    In the Poetry classification, “Explaining My Depression to My Mother” by Sabrina Benaim and “Life is an Illusion” by Trisha were performed by Brewer.
