Wauneta-Palisade High School takes top honors at McCook Inter-high Day

Wauneta-Palisade students had an excellent showing at the recent Inter-high scholastic day competition at McCook Community College. WP came home with the first-place title for small schools. Brady came in second and Eustis-Farnam placed third in the division.
“This is one of the largest events we host involving high schools students and they come back year after year to showcase their best and brightest students,” said Kelley Rippen, Area Dean of Enrollment Management for McCook and North Platte Community College. “We host year after year so we can make a great impression on them while they are on campus in hopes they will consider us after graduation, or in many cases before for early entry courses.”
Fourteen WP students competed in various subjects. A total of 19 high schools were included in the event.
Wauneta-Palisade’s students also performed well in the individual tests. Three students placed in the top three on individual tests—Taylor Hiett earned first in graphic design, Lake Reikofski earned second in geometry and Brody Nordhausen placed third in physics.
Students who placed first in a subject were awarded $500 scholarships to be used during their freshman year at MCC. Students who placed first, second or third place in a subject area each received certificates good for three credit hours of tuition during the summer session.
Miranda Behrends placed fourth in both English literature and music theory. The team of Reagan Skow, Kenna Blackman and Austen Rozelle placed fourth in improv.
