Speech team feeling good heading into state meet

The Wauneta-Palisade Speech team will be sending two acts to the State Speech Meet following last week’s district meet.
    The Oral Interpretation of Drama presentation of Lion King headed into finals in first place and finished second. Team members include Reagan Skow, Emily Day, Lake Reikofski, Dennis Cavanaugh and Cord Lee.
    Day earned first place honors with her Poetry reading and will perform at state.
    Six groups represented WP at districts and all made finals.
    A second OID team performed The Pardoner’s Tale. Team members were Duncan Rector, Angel Hinojosa, Joel Maris, Dalton Harchelroad, and Cash Yearous.
    The group was in second behind the other WP OID after prelims, but finished fifth overall.
    The duo of Lake Reikofski and Joel Maris finished fourth, one spot out of a trip to state, with their performance of The Heart of the Sea.
    How to Survive Teenagers was the title of Michaela Duke’s Entertainment act. Dukes also placed fourth.
    Skow finished fifth in the Humorous with Fat Kids on Fire.
