PTO Parade of Lights coming soon

The second annual Wauneta-Palisade’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Parade of Lights Contest is quickly approaching. This year’s contest theme is “Spreading Cheer Throughout The Year.”
    The competition will take place Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. MT/8 p.m. CT starting in the Wauneta-Palisade Schools high school parking lot and ending at the railroad tracks by Frenchman Valley Coop.
    There will be hot chocolate provided for all participants.
    Interested participants can pick up a registration form at Wauneta Crossroads, Sodtown Sundries in Palisade or from PTO member Lynsie Crider.
    A registration fee of $50 is due by Nov. 22. All proceeds will go towards purchases to benefit WP students and teachers. Financial donations are also always welcomed. With any questions or for more information contact Crider at 308-882-1412.
    The funds that were raised at last year’s Parade of Lights Contest to purchase an outdoor water fountain for the Palisade Attendance Center’s play ground area.
    The PTO has funded various elementary field trips including the most recent visit to Cox’s Ponds where elementary students had an entire day filled with different lessons utilizing the outdoors and pumpkins.
    The group also helps sponsor any fifth or sixth grade field trips.
    The PTO also gives each K-6 teacher a $50 stipend which funds each teacher’s individual good behavior treats. Some teachers award “money.” Kindergarten teacher Dawn Doetker gives Doetker Dollars, third grade teacher Stephanie Malcolm has doubloons.
    PTO’s president is Sam Sutherland, vice president Sarah Vrbas, secretary Dawn Doetker and treasurer Jolene Muths.
