New teacher contracts approved by Wauneta-Palisade school board

The Wauneta-Palisade Public Schools board met for its regular meeting Monday night.
The night started out with many congratulations and thanks to everyone working to make Wauneta-Palisade Public Schools better each year.
The resignation of Joy Farr, 7-12 Language Arts Instructor was accepted by the board. Lisa McAlevy, who’s contract was approved at last months meeting, will be taking over her position.
The board also approved Marissa McDaniel’s contract to take over the fifth grade teaching position handed down by RanDee Barger who’s resignation was accepted last month.
“She is a good fit for the school system, and will be a breath of fresh air for around here,” said board member Bill Bishoff.

School calendar
The school calendar has been amended to allow staff to attend a Write Tools meeting on May 17 at Maywood Public Schools.
“It is a unique opportunity to train teachers who haven’t had an opportunity to be trained in Write Tools and for teachers who have to be retrained,” said Randy Geier, superintendent of Wauneta-Palisade.

New surveillance system
Board members approved to move forward with the conversion of the old analog camera system to an updated digital format.
Geier proposed that an estimated $6,000 would be needed to buy around 40 cameras.
Geier said he is very confident it won’t affect the servers, one of the main concerns of board members, and will continue to do more research and planning with Joe Vrbas who does maintenance at WP.
Vrbas and Geier have both been able to observe quality and installation with a couple of new cameras that have been placed in the bus barn.
