Elementary students showcase their athleticism at field day

Despite the cold and misty weather conditions Wauneta-Palisade elementary students enjoyed WP’s annual field day May 11 at the Wauneta Attendance Center track. Students got to try their hand in shotput, hurdles, long jump, cup stacking and much more.
WP’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) provided pizza for lunch, the WP cheerleaders brought desserts and HomeTown Agency provided water. The cheerleaders served students and teachers.
Kindergarten through sixth grade physical education teacher and school librarian Bre Bales organized the day’s events.
“It went well. I was very happy to have help from the high school track team in the morning and fifth and sixth graders in the afternoon,” said Bales.
McKenna Doetker, top left, takes a running jump at the long jump pit. Kalli Hoskovec, bottom left, is all smiles while she jumps over the hurdles at one of the field events during the day. Konner McCrumb throws the shotput as far as he can in the top right picture.
