Southwest Nebraska flood response ideas

Southwest Nebraska has not been impacted directly by the flooding and blizzard situations experienced in other parts of our state. But many from this area want to assist with immediate and long term relief and response for those that were impacted by these events. While we want to contribute and help many hesitate because we don’t know what to do or where to do it. No one wants scammed and unfortunately it is in times like these that people do get scammed by those taking advantage of others misfortune. We also don’t want to cause more stress or give something that is not needed. Nebraska Extension has developed some guidance to help the people and communities affected, safely and appropriately.
Money is the most useful donation. Donations for relief efforts may be given through many support relief organizations, local entities or through the Nebraska 4-H Foundation. Questions regarding donations to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation and financial support to assist these efforts can be directed toward Stuart Shepherd at sshepherd3@unl.edu.
