Patty A. Houghton
Patty Ann Houghton was born Oct. 13, 1944 in Imperial, Neb., to Cecil R. and Selma M. (Ohmie) Gardner. She grew up and attended school in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High School in 1962. She furthered her education by moving to Denver and attending Parks Business School.
Houghton married Richard R. Houghton on Nov. 11, 1973, in Denver, Colo., where the couple first settled. In 1978, they moved to Enders and owned and operated Laker’s Delight for several years. She and Dick then made Imperial their home where they have resided since.
Houghton was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company while living in Denver. She worked locally at T-Junction, Jack and Jill Grocery and Artistic Woodworking.
Houghton had many hobbies including bowling, coin collecting, completing sudokus and crossword puzzles. Patty especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Houghton passed away Friday morning, March 3, 2017, at her home in Imperial. She was 72 years of age.
Survivors include husband Dick Houghton of Imperial; daughter Sandy (Mike) Coon of Rapid City, S.D.; son Rich (Becky) Houghton of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren Justine (Ken) McDilda, Catlin Houghton and Benjamin Houghton; great-grandchildren Seamus and Kieran McDilda; sisters Colleen (Herb) Lynch of Lakewood, Colo., and Nancy Gardner of Lakewood, Colo.
Houghton was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dean and Don Gardner and sister Carol Cunningham.
Memorial services will be held Saturday morning, March 11, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Imperial with Rev. Melody Newman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
There will be no visitation, she chose cremation.
A memorial has been established in Houghton’s memory.
