Volleyball team evens record, five games this week

The Wauneta-Palisade volleyball team has improved its record to 2-2 following last week’s action.
    WP opened the week with wins over Paxton and Stapleton at the Paxton Triangular.
    The night opened with a 25-13, 25-6 win for the Broncos over Paxton.
    Monique Gooden and Haylee Sandman had five and four aces, respectively, and each totaled four kills. Michaela Dukes and Maycee Wheeler had 15 assists on the Broncos’ 17 kills.
    WP’s second win was a sweep of Stapleton, 25-22, 25-14.
    H. Sandman notched eight kills while hitting .357 and four solo blocks for the Broncos.
    Dukes and Wheeler combined for 15 assists on WP’s 16 kills. Wheeler led WP with three aces.
    WP faced a much taller task Friday at Dundy County-Stratton.
    The Broncos got off on the right foot, opening up a 3-0 advantage to start the match. DCS rebounded to take the lead, but was unable to shake WP. The game was tied at 10 when DCS reeled off five-straight points to lead 10-15, then 12-17.
