School district staff finishing up maintenance

With the start of the school year less than two weeks away, school district staff are finishing the last few projects to get buildings ready for students’ return.
School Superintendent Randy Geier said most of the work is “just general maintenance” and cleaning.
The most visible project, the running track, finished up this summer after about two years of work. The last task was to lay down the five-lane rubber composite track, which replaces the old cinder track that had no lanes at all.
Geier reminded local residents that while they might have been able to get away with using the old track to walk their dogs, animals are not allowed on the new surface.
Geier also encouraged users to walk or run in lanes four and five.
