Alberta (Jo) Frasier

Alberta Jolee (Jo) Frasier, 90 years old, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at her home in Gold Canyon, Ariz.  At her side were her husband, her three children and three of her grandchildren.
Jo Frasier was born in Davenport, Iowa on Jan. 12, 1928 to Edwin (DVM) and Ethel Rolston. She attended schools in Princeton and Clinton, Iowa. After graduation from high school she attended Iowa State University where she graduated in 1959 with a bs degree in general science. Following college she started her scientific career at the United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service Water Conservation Lab, in Tempe, Ariz. in 1959. During her first week in her new position, she met her husband Gary Frasier. They were married on Nov. 25, 1959 at the Danforth Chapel, Arizona State University campus.
Jo was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She switched from her scientific career to full-time mom after the birth of her second child. She volunteered many hours serving in district and leader roles for children’s groups including Campfire Girls and Cub Scouts. She also served as the Broadmoor Elementary School PTA President, as her children’s school room mother for many years and as a part time substitute teacher. She never missed a baseball, football or softball game when her children were playing. In the 1980s, Jo lovingly cared for her mother for seven years prior to her death.
Jo was a lover of the outdoors and animals. She loved camping and fishing with her husband and family in the Arizona and Colorado mountains.  Jo always had animals around her, from a horse named Chief in high school to dogs and cats wherever she lived. Watching wild animals was a favorite pastime. She loved to watch birds in the desert and deer in the mountains. She experienced a lifelong dream when she traveled to South Africa for a ten-day safari with her husband and saw many of the African wild animals.
She was a 60-year member of the Polk County Order of the Eastern Star carrying on her parent’s Masonic tradition.  She was a Life Legacy Member of the Society for Range Management. She served as a volunteer copy editor of Rangelands and the Journal of Range Management journals for over 15 years.
She is survived by her husband Gary Frasier of Loveland, Colo.; children Donna Jo (Jim) Chitla of Tempe Ariz.; Clay (Connie) Frasier of Chandler Ariz.; Wendy Frasier (Glen Peer) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother Gaylord (Nancy) Rolston of Clinton, Iowa; seven grandchildren Dawn (Riley) Pendergrass; Christopher Chitla, Cassia Chitla; Sarah Frasier, Thomas Frasier; Kelley (Shaun) Pippett; Amber Peer; and one great grandchild, Waylon Pippett and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin Rolston and Ethel Ester (nee Johnson) Rolston, a brother Dorvan Rolston and maternal and paternal grandparents.
She will be interred at the Wauneta Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, 1:30 p.m. MT.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Frasier house in Loveland, Colo., on the afternoon of June 22.
