Saturday, May 12 was a special day for 15 individuals. New beginnings commence for Wauneta-Palisade Schools’ class of 2018

May 12, 2018 marked both an end and beginning for Wauneta-Palisade Schools’ class of 2018. The class comprised of 15 students walked the stage to receive their diplomas at the Wauneta Attendance Center gymnasium in front of their friends, family and community members.
    Class president Reagan Skow started off the ceremony with her welcoming speech thanking those who invested in both her and her fellow classmates.
    Natalie Ramirez was awarded valedictorian and Kenna Blackman salutatorian.
    The keynote speaker was Dave Kuhlen, WP teacher and boys’ basketball coach of 20 years. Kuhlen emphasized the importance of preparing for whatever situation the graduating class might encounter.
    He noted that while he coached the graduates when they were in junior high track he would give each student a high five after their final warm up lap. He ended his speech commissioning the graduates to go out confidently into the world, and requesting one final “confident” high five.
