Wauneta-Palisade Schools’ board met for its regular meeting, May 14 at the Wauneta Attendance Center.
    With the school year coming to a close there were no action items on the agenda. Superintendent Randy Geier and Principal Joseph Frecks filled the board in on the last week of school going ons.
    Geier noted that the FFA Greenhouse has been a huge success amongst community members. The greenhouse opened for the first time on May 5, and has been open several times throughout the last couple of weeks.
    Board member Allison Sandman noted that when she purchased some vegetables from the greenhouse, FFA Advisors Teresa Hayes and Rod Gaston were already making additional plans to give a wider variety for next year’s sales.
    The WP FFA chapter also made lunch for the fifth through twelfth graders and teachers in Wauneta Monday, May 14. They served hamburgers, homemade potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, fruits and vegetables.
    In hopes of recruiting potential FFA members the fifth and sixth grade students took a tour of the greenhouse and ag shop.
    Geier also noted that he will once again be teaching driver education this summer. Before the classes begin Kenneth Miller with the Department of Motor Vehicles will be coming out to the school to perform an audit.
    Geier has a checklist for Miller, and assured the board the audit would go smoothly. It is normal protocol to have a required audit every two to three years.

Principals report
    Kindergarten roundup took place May 2 and 13 potential students were in attendance. Frecks noted that the 2018-2019 class will most likely consist of 15 students.
