Western States Bank raises $843 for WP music department

Western States Bank had its second annual sloppy joe feed at the Wauneta-Palisade (WP) Broncos’ Homecoming football game Thursday, Sept. 28.
There were 200 people that came out and took part in the bank’s free will donation. Sloppy joes, chips, brownies, watermelon and water were served to all patrons.
A total of $843 was raised for the Wauneta-Palisade music department. Last year’s sloppy joe feed funds went to WP’s athletic department. Western States Bank plans to continue to have the event with the funds going to a different facet of the school each year.
Sara and Aaron Behrends, WP’s music instructors, said that because of both a growing and consistent interest in band, the money will most likely go towards instruments.
There are currently 60 members in both the high school and junior high band with the fifth and sixth grade band class numbers also sky rocketing.
