If you’re looking for a stiff drink at home, you’re going to have to go to Palisade to get it.
    Mrs. C’s co-owner Melissa Holmes confirmed that the Wauneta liquor store closed as of Dec. 1.
    “I’ve got too much going on,” Holmes said. “I can’t be everywhere I need to be at the same time.”
    She and her husband, Corey, operate Wauneta’s Mr. C’s bar, as well as hunting and repair businesses.
    As of right now, Holmes said, she is uncertain whether she will have off-sale at the bar, because there’s a possibility someone may be interested in buying the liquor store.
    The Holmeses opened Mrs. C’s about five or six years ago and the bar about three years ago, she said.
    The closing of the Wauneta business means the closest place to buy hard liquor is Lakers Bait and Tackle in Enders.
