Wauneta almost ready for water project bidding

Preparation work is accelerating for the Village of Wauneta’s $3 million water project.
David Blau of Miller and Associates of McCook, consulting engineer on the project, said, “We’re probably getting ready to bid it here. We haven’t set an exact bid date, but we’ll probably start advertising in August. Plans are getting ready to be sent to the (Nebraska) Department of Health for review in the next week or so.”
That DPH review probably will be done by the end of the month.
Once the bids are advertised, it probably will be three to six weeks before village officials award the contracts.
The project is aimed at getting naturally occurring arsenic in the village’s water down to a level in line with the latest government regulations.
