Sunrise Heights Happenings
On a bulletin board in a hall at Sunrise the message at the top is “State of Nebraska Stories” and they want people to write their story to put on the board. I thought don’t recall having a story I might write. Someone said to me “You like to write” (and I do), but I could think of no thing that would not only repeat what others might write, such as clean air or good place to raise a family. And I thought of good schools as I remember my seven years in a county school that long ago we had faithful, dedicated to their job of teaching, you people of those days.
So a story I thought of—the years later termed as “The Dirty Thirties.” Those years were hard for Nebraska, and I suppose neighboring states, because strong winds from the south brought clouds of red soil from states south of Nebraska.
