Property dilemmas faced at commissioners’ meeting

Chase County Commissioners Dave Hogsett, Chuck Vette and Don Weiss, Jr. met Sept. 26 for their second meeting of the month.

Rezoning for new building
Josh Skelton with Dickinson Land Surveyors, Inc. has started the process of rezoning the land for the new county building on the fairgrounds.
The new area will be 30 feet north from the back of the building and west almost all the way to the Jaycee Hall.
With the process needing to go through the Imperial City Council, Skelton told the commissioners the soonest the county could possibly get a building permit is Nov. 6. Skelton added that they can do a subdivision plot and rezone simultaneously. The commissioners named Skelton as agent for the process.

School deed
As representatives of Chase County Schools prepared for the sale of the old high school site and bus barn, it was discovered that the county was listed on the title for a section of land in the middle of the property.
Jon Engbrecht, Steve Wallin and Clint Johnson brought a warranty deed transferring the land back to the school to the meeting for the commissioners to sign.
The commissioners signed the warranty deed so the sale could proceed, but will need to sign a resolution at the Oct. 10 meeting.
