Poker run fundraiser planned for Harley Markee

On Sept. 5, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, there will be a poker run fundraiser for 12-year-old Harley Markee of Imperial to help with medical-associated expenses, said organizer Brad Dinnel.
This event will take place just one day before the one year anniversary of her diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Registration for the poker run will be at 10 a.m. at MorningStar Cafe with the run starting at 10:30 a.m.
“All vehicles are welcome to participate,” said Dinnel.         “It can be two, three or four wheels or an 18-wheeler—whatever you want,” he said.
“Everyone is on their own for lunch. We won’t be scheduling a special stop for that,” he said.
The first stop will be in Lewellen at The Blind Goose, where the first of five cards will be drawn.
The other four cars will be drawn at other stops on the route, including Toots Bar & Grill in Chappell, Middle of Nowhere Bar & Grill in Venango, DJ’s Restaurant Bar & Grill in Grant, and finishing at the VFW in Imperial where a free will donation will be taken up for an evening meal.
The meal will be prepared by several families, Dinnel said.
