Jason and Crystal Hicks of Palisade recently started a family owned and operated business—JC Renovations and Tree Services.
    The couple began this business venture the beginning of January 2017. After slowly acquiring the necessary equipment and meeting licensing and insurance requirements they started taking jobs in July of 2017.
    Being fully insured was an important step for Jason. He noted that it is important for a business, especially one operating big machinery, to be insured.
    “It is a hidden value, and protects not only the business but its customers,” said Jason.
    Currently Jason and son Cody Hicks work together to keep the business running smoothly. They offer tree trimming/removal, property cleanup, home renovations/carpentry, skid steer, bucket truck and dump trailer services.
    “With Cody just graduating college we wanted to keep him close. We want the business to stay busy, but not get too overbooked where we would keep our customers waiting for long periods of time,” said Jason.
    Although the Palisade couple created their business knowing that there is a distinct need for tree removal services in the area, they first and foremost had their family in mind.
