Mobile Pantry to stop in Imperial

Imperial will be welcoming back the Mobile Pantry Saturday, March 25, at the City Gym from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Mobile Pantry is a traveling food pantry that delivers food to families in need during a one-day distribution. Food items will include canned good, baked goods, meat and produce.
Mobile Pantry is a part of Food Bank for the Heartland, a nonprofit organization that distributes food to 530 food pantries, schools, emergency shelters and nonprofit partners located in  Omaha.
Food Bank for the Heartland is the largest food bank in Nebraska and Iowa, serving 93 counties in the two-state region. They collaborate with individuals, organizations, food manufacturers and distributors, grocery stores, the USDA and Feeding America to procure food. They also purchase food to supplement donations.
Not only do they fight to end hunger, there are programs designed to meet the growing needs of hungry children, families and seniors.
First Bank and Trust Company of Imperial employees will be volunteering to help  with set up and distribution. First Bank and Trust has helped out with the last four visits of the Mobile Pantry.
In the past, food has been provided for 70-80 local families at each food drive.
