Mercy Meals of Southwest Nebraska’s board appreciative of all donations

Sounds of laughter and the intoxicating smell of fresh baked cookies and desserts filled the Mercy Meals of Southwest Nebraska house last Saturday.
In hopes of raising enough funds to pay for a year’s worth of expenditures such as water, electric, gloves, soap, etc., Mercy Meals had its annual bake sale.
The nonprofit hopes to make enough money to cover a full year to ensure 100 percent of any monetary donations can go towards the purchase of the food/supplies that are sent overseas.
Although attendance numbers were not as high as previous years, the majority of goods were sold, said board member Jan Coone.
There were a variety of cookies, pies, casseroles, dinner rolls, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, crafts and much more available to the public. Any items that were left over were divvied up and sent to various churches to be sold.
Evelyn Skelton of Wauneta was the winner of the goody basket filled with a variety of cookies and candies.
