    Wauneta Attendance Center third grader Ellie Lee became the elementary school’s first student to reach 100 points in one school year since adopting the AR program. For all her hard work Lee was presented a championship T-shirt in addition to being crowned and wheeled down the hallways by Principal Randy Geier.
    Jim and Annette Long and Melissa were Sunday dinner guests of Violet Long.
    Senior Jake Smith received a special honor to end his high school wrestling career at the Ramada Inn in Kearney. He was chosen by the Western Nebraska Wrestling Officials as the 2007 Sportsman” of the Year.
    Tayler, Lanee and Evan Nordhausen and Tucker and Zoey Boos spent Friday evening with Allan and Judi Nordhausen. Kirsten, Tucker and Zoey were Sunday dinner guests.
    Brian Vrbas was a Friday visitor at the home of Zora Sailors.

    Cheryl Larsen and Carol McCallum announce the opening of their new Wauneta business, Strictly Nails. The two sisters attended beauty school several years ago while in high school in Texas. They have been working on nail care techniques and are excited about the service they have to offer.
    Amy McKinney set a school mark in the shot put with a distance of 36 feet. Renea Haarberg was a double individual winner. Haarberg won the long jump at 15 feet 1/2 inches  and won the 100 meters in 13.3.
    Ruby Anderson and June McCallum attended the S. A. C. Concert in McCook Saturday night.
    Jan DeWester and Michelle and Dawnta Harchelroad visited Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stamm this week.
