Beth Linn, Nebraska State Department Commander, opened the conference.
    Members, Dennis and Peggy Kennedy, from local American Legion and Auxiliary Adam Miller Post #133, participated in the 84th Mid-Year Conference for the Department of Nebraska held Jan., 13th-15th at the Hotel Grand in Grand Island.
    Also attending from Hitchcock County was Richard Baxter, County Commander, from Palisade Post #318.
    During the three-day conference, attendees heard from National Commanders of the Legion, Charlie Schmidt, and Sons of Legion, Jeff Frain.
    Also presented were candidates for those upcoming positions including SAL candidate, Danny Smith from Nebraska. Included in the conference was an American Legion Riders meeting and a LEAD training. The training was led by National Americanism Director, Jill Druskis.
