Julie Levy earns advanced diabetes certification

Chase County Community Hospital’s (CCCH) very own Julie Levy has just earned the Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) certification through the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).
The BC-ADM certification, not only makes Levy more qualified as a Registered Dietician, but also places her at an advanced level of knowledge which betters her ability to assist patient’s needs. “It says I’m certified in this category, diabetes. People can come to me for advice,” said Levy.
The eligibility criteria to gain this certification includes 500 hours in advance diabetes management and a master’s degree or higher professional education training specific to diabetes.
In fulfilling her roll as a Registered Dietician, Levy meets with cardiac patients to help plan their diet.
She is involved in meal plans at both CCCH and the Imperial Manor Parkview Heights and makes sure the proper nutrients, grains and portion sizes are given.
Levy also monitors residents at the Imperial Manor Parkview Heights who have diabetes and gives suggestions to healthcare providers.
All patients that Levy meets with must be referred by a health care provider. She also travels to Holyoke, Colo. and Jewelsburg, Colo.
