Jan Coone announced as 2017 NILA ProLingua award recipient

an Coone is the recipient of Nebraska International Language Associate (NILA) 2017 Prolingua award.
    NILA’s ProLingua award honors an individual or organization who, although not a classroom teacher of world languages, contributes to the success and development of world language education through the support of world language students, programs and teachers.
    Coone has been a part of the education world for many years. After teaching at Wallace Public Schools for 24 years Coone changed jobs and started working for Education Service Unit (ESU) 16.
    Coone helps arrange professional days for teachers to come together for support and to share best practices. She is also responsible for providing teachers with grant money for new supplies and travel stipends.
    “I’d like to give credit to the teachers that keep showing up every year. There are a handful of teachers that consistently show up. Without them the program would end,” said Coone.
    According to one nomination she is, “A former classroom teacher, she knows the struggles we face and has worked tirelessly to bring... teachers the trainings we need and want.”
