Imperial Jaycees contest for biggest, smallest deer racks

Just in time for another deer season opener this Saturday, the Imperial Jaycees are sponsoring their first annual Big Buck Contest.
As successful deer hunters look over their prey, they might want to take note if they’ve bagged an especially large animal, or even a small one, as they hunted during the bow or firearm seasons.
The Jaycees will be awarding cash prizes for the largest and smallest deer racks turned in at the Jaycee Hall next Sunday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Jaycee Chris Lee said racks will be scored on site using the Boone and Crockett gross total score. It’s required the deer be taken during Nebraska’s 2017 bow hunting or firearm season.
For racks to be eligible, the deer must have been checked in or possess the valid canceled permit from the Game and Parks, Lee said.
An entry fee of $30 will be charged for each rack entered, which includes a cajun boil meal being served.
