Harvest Fest theme, grand marshal announced

The Wauneta Harvest Festival committee has been busy planning this year’s community celebration, set for July 27 to 30.
The theme will be “Make Wauneta Great Again” and the Kitt family has been named the parade grand marshal to celebrate the family’s long connection to Wauneta. Planning of the many Harvest Fest events is well underway.

Melodrama Thursday
One of the first large events during the Harvest Fest celebration will be “Showtime on the Showboat,” a melodrama directed by Aaron and Sara Behrends.
The show’s cast is assembled, but the Behrends’ would love to hear from other would-be performers who may be interested in doing an “olio act” by singing a song, reading a poem or telling jokes.
Saturday schedule filling up
The Saturday of Harvest Fest is always a busy day and this year it looks like that tradition will continue.
After the parade HomeTown Agency  will sponsor a lunch of hot dogs and brats at the BWTelcom building.
The Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department plans to expand their Smoke Off event this year with expanded categories and judging held at different times throughout the day. It will culminate with a pulled pork meal that evening.
Saturday’s activities will round out with a dance at the Wauneta Park tennis courts. Bases Loaded of Kearney will perform at the dance.
For more information about Harvest Fest contact one of the committee members: Mandi Kramer, Rogan Einspahr, Leanne Hunt, Laura West, Jess Kerchal, Mollie Ringleman or Jesse West.
