Fun family events planned for free fishing and park entry day

This Saturday is Free Fishing and Park Entry Day in Nebraska. This is an annual opportunity for families to enjoy a day of fishing or state park activities without needing to buy a fishing or park entry permit for the day.
The Southwest Nebraska Izaak Walton League, or Ike’s, will be hosting their annual free fishing day at Champion Lake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants between the ages of eight and 13 are eligible to win prizes. Through a donation from the Logan Bauman, Memorial Foundation, Ikes will be giving two lifetime fish permits to two participants. Winners must be a Nebraska resident to be eligible to win.
“Everyone will get something,” said Tom Elder, Ike’s secretary. Ike’s will be providing some fishing poles and tackle, but participants are encouraged and allowed to bring their own. The VFW and Eagles Auxiliary have donated food that will be served at noon.
