Four COVID cases over weekend put WCTC back on full lockdown

Wauneta Care and Therapy Center is once again on full lockdown after being slammed with four COVID-19 cases over the weekend.
WCTC Administrator Lisa Kisinger said three members of the nursing staff and one resident tested positive for the virus.
Kisinger said the home did its weekly rapid test of staff Friday and one staff member initially tested positive, with a second receiving a positive test on the same day. The third staff member tested positive Saturday.
After the positive staff results, all residents were tested and one came back positive Saturday. That person was hospitalized.
None of the staff members were symptomatic, but the resident did have some symptoms, she said.
WCTC has shut down all visitation, even window visits. Residents have also gone back to eating in their rooms, after earlier restrictions were eased that allowed a certain number to eat in the dining room.
Kisinger said she wasn’t sure how the staff members came into contact with the virus.
“One attended some classes at McCook Community College, and they’ve had some cases there. That would be my guess. But the other two, I have no idea.”
