Flu approaching Wauneta

This year’s flu isn’t in the Wauneta area yet — much — but it appears to be headed this way.
Wauneta School Superintendent Randy Geier said the district hasn’t seen any cases yet.
“No issues, knock on wood,” he said. “We’ve been pretty fortunate. It’s been years since we’ve had any major [outbreak]. My 10 years in the district, it traditionally hasn’t been too big of a problem for us.”
The district has provided flu shots for the staff, but none for the students.
Ronda Sargent, manager of the Chase County Community Hospital clinics in Wauneta and Imperial, said Imperial just had its first positive test for flu last week. There have been none in Wauneta.
