First year med students experience rural hospitals

Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH) welcomed a first-year medical student to the team last Monday.
Completing his Rural Care Block, a mandatory three-week stint in a rural hospital setting, through the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Bill Hynes will be learning all he can about rural hospitals.
Growing up in Lincoln, the southwest part of Nebraska is a bit less populated than what he is used to.
“It is definitely different, but I like it,” said Hynes.
Hynes graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a major in bio-chemistry and a minor in chemistry.
Hynes gives his father, also a doctor, and his time at an Alzheimer’s unit he worked at in college all the credit for his decision in pursuing a career in medicine.
