Taking a song title from a top hit by the rock group Foghat, who will perform at this year’s Chase County Fair, the parade committee likes its choice of “Slow Ride through Chase County” as its 2017 theme.
In choosing this year’s theme, parade committee member Jana Pribbeno said it also signifies the start of one of the biggest county fairs Nebraska has to offer.
Certainly, the Chase County
Fair didn’t start out as big as it is today. Pribbeno said with the influence of such fair board members as Ed Burke and others decades ago, it continued to build, maybe on a “slow ride,” to be what some now call “Western
Nebraska’s State Fair.”
Because of the influence of so many fair board members
over the years, those individuals
will be recognized this year as the Fair Parade Grand Marshals.
Pribbeno said the committee
already has 14 confirmed former fair board members and associate members who will be on the trailer carrying
the Grand Marshals.
