Drug take-back event scheduled for March 25th in Imperial

Are you thinking about flushing those leftover prescription drugs down the toilet? Tossing the prescriptions drugs in your medicine cabinet into the trash?  There is a safe alternative.  The Imperial Police Department and Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department are working together to host a Drug Take-Back Event on Saturday, March 25 from 10:00 am to Noon at the front entrance of the police department.
“We get numerous questions on what to do with unused prescriptions,” explains Chad Ostmeyer, Sergeant with the Imperial Police Department.  “Folks are helping their parents move and find bottles and packets of prescriptions.  Others have changes in their prescription and are left with a challenge.  We wanted to help solve this situation and we found a partner with Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department.”
“We will have an officer at the event and be responsible for the secure collection of the drugs,” explains Sergeant Ostmeyer.  “We would appreciate no needles, sharps or liquids.”
