Dinnel wins Republican primary for commission seat

There will be a new face on the Chase County Board of Commissioners after November’s election.
In unofficial results from the county election commissioner’s office, Duane Dinnel garnered 147 votes in the May 12 Republican primary, 22 more than incumbent Commissioner Chuck Vette.
The third candidate in the primary, Terry Bilka, received 79 votes.
In the November general election, Dinnel will run against Dave Teply, the sole Democrat running.
In that same Republican primary, President Donald Trump won Chase County’s votes in a walk.
He received 962 votes against 23 for his sole challenger, Bill Weld.
In the Democratic primary, Joe Biden also won the county handily, although not as much as Trump. He received 82 votes. His nearest challenger, and the only other candidate with double digits, was Elizabeth Warren with 14.
In the Libertarian primary, the only announced candidate to receive a vote was Lincoln Chafee, with one.
In the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, incumbent Ben Sasse won with 738 votes. The next closest competitor was Matt Innis with 255.
