The Chase County Community Hospital is once again sponsoring the Cancer 5K Run/Walk. This annual fundraiser helps support friends and family in Chase County and the surrounding area affected by cancer and is open to the public.
    Funds raised also go toward patients’ associated expenses as well as preventative care.
    The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, at Imperial city park on West 7th Street, east of the skatepark.
    Deadline to preregister for the race and receive a T-shirt in time to wear in the race is Oct. 7, said Deb Hrcka, Chase County Hospital Foundation assistant executive director.
    Participants can register up until the day of the race, but aren’t guaranteed a T-shirt for that day, she said.
    The registration fee per individual is $20 or $15/each for teams of four or more, said Hrcka.
