Community continues to show support for Wauneta Community Building improvement projects

The Wauneta Community Building was buzzing with activity Monday night.
Many members of the Wauneta community braved the frigid temperatures to attend a free will donation dinner raising money for the community building’s improvement projects.
The village’s end monetary goal is $25,000 by Feb. 1 to meet the requirements of the Community Center Grant Matching Fund through the Civic and Community Center Financing Fund. The money raised will go towards a new heating and cooling system, new coolers, improving handicap accessibility, kitchen improvements and, hopefully, courtyard beautification.
Western States Bank contributed its service to the cause by serving and paying for the sloppy joes, pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, beans, chips and cookies. Tiffany Bley baked the cookies and John Johnston cooked everything else.
Not only was good food served but Wauneta-Palisade’s fifth and sixth graders graced the audience with several patriotic themed pieces conducted by Aaron Behrends and accompanied by Sara Behrends.
“I think it went very well, I just wish we didn’t have that cold snap,” said Senior Vice President Branch Manager Brenda Anderson.
