Co-op stations likely won’t reopen

It appears unlikely that Cenex Co-Op stations in Wauneta and Palisade will reopen.
“It’s probably not a viable option,” Board President Joe Barger said. “We’ll probably sell the assets and pay the creditors.”
The board has not yet met to make any final decision, he said, but will have to “probably sometime soon. Time is not on our side, but I don’t have a date for that.”
Both stations closed with no public warning in mid-January. In the time since, the board has tried to either find a buyer or find another co-op with which to consolidate.
“We were unsuccessful to find anyone to merge with us,” Barger said, and thus will most likely stay closed.
