Prior to the start of Thursday’s state tournament game against Mead, Wauneta-Palisade assistant boys’ coach Rod Gaston said the game would be decided by who could control the tempo.
Wauneta-Palisade fans were on the edge of their seats Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Bartley during the District D4 basketball game.

Seniors Greg Gaston, left, and Brody Nordhausen led the Wauneta-Palisade to a 53-51 win over Wilcox-Hildreth Tuesday night in the D2-4 District Finals at Bartley. The win gives WP a berth in the state tournament March 9-11 in Lincoln. It will be the Broncos first trip to state since the 2012-2013 season.
The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team blew threw the competition last week to advance to Tuesday’s district final against Wilcox-Hildreth (15-10) in Bartley.
