Auctioneering contest comes to area

Imperial Auction Market will be the site for the Western regional of the 2018 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship (WLAC) this September.
The Auction Market will host 25-35 auctioneers who hail from the Midwest all the way  to the west coast and Canada for the regional.
Other regionals include the Midwest and Eastern regionals.
The Top 10 from each region advance to the finals of the WLAC to be held next summer.
Auctioneers are eligible to enter up to two of the three regionals in an attempt to qualify for the finals.
The regional in Imperial will be held during one of the barn’s fall specials on Saturday, Sept. 30, with 2,500-3,000 head of cattle expected to be sold.
That will also be the date of the Market’s customer appreciation dinner.
Preston Smith of Imperial has competed in numerous WLAC events, cracking the Top 10 several times along with being the World Reserve Champion in 2014.
