Heidi Wheeler and Mason Holmes are in new Imperial Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department office space at 501 Broadway in Imperial. An open house there is set for Wednesday, March 1. The office entrance faces south off West 5th Street.

SW Public Health moves to Imperial office space

Moving to a larger office space with more exposure downtown is cause for celebration and an open house.
The Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is doing just that. A March 1 open house is scheduled at the new office location in Imperial at 501 Broadway in the west end of the Moreland building.
The Imperial office will be staffed Tuesdays through Fridays from 7 a.m. MT/8 a.m. CT to 3:30 p.m. MT/4:30 p.m. CT by Emergency Response Coordinator Heidi Wheeler and Mason Holmes, Program Assistant. Both Wheeler and Holmes spend Mondays at the McCook office.
Reason for the move was a need for more space as the Imperial office is offering more services, Holmes noted.
Wheeler said they also want to be more visible and accessible to the public. Their former location in the hospital’s annex building was smaller and out of the public eye, she noted.
Some of the new services provided here include sale of radon home test kits and mold test kits as well as the “red bucket” emergency kits.
Holmes will also be doing more clinical tasks in Imperial, he said.
Wheeler joined SWNPHD nine years ago as a Program Assistant, and shortly after was named Emergency Response Coordinator.
After graduating from Chase County High School in 1992, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Security Management from Bellevue University. Last July, she received her master’s in Emergency Preparedness from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
