The night before Christmas

Submitted by Alta Keating

A poem to my great-grandchildren...
The children were all snug in their beds. Not a creature was stirring, after a hard day of work, not even a mouse. The exterminators had seen to that!
The plans have all been made. The house was decorated galore, everything was clean even the floor. The sun would shine on the day Jesus was born. The children would be excited and the parents would be delighted.
The food was all prepared for a crowd and everyone feeling so proud. All was anticipating the arrival of family and friends. Then Jesus knocked at the door and said “Merry Christmas! May I come in?” Oh yes, we cried, come in today, come in to stay. Lord Jesus come into my heart, come in to stay.
