Wanda Larson - January 03, 2009

Wanda Lorine Larson was born Dec. 19, 1914, to Eilert and Anna (Buss) Ackerman in Gothenburg, Neb.
Wanda grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School.
She married Wilbur L. Larson on Dec. 16, 1935, in Norton, Kan., and the couple settled in Gothenburg. Together they had three children: Robert, Kay and Alvin.
In 1954, Wilbur and Wanda bought the Ford dealership in Wauneta, Neb., and ultimately moved the dealership to Imperial, Neb., in 1969. Wanda worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for Larson Motors and several other businesses.
Wanda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Choir and the Chase County Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, playing bridge and bingo and winters in Arizona. She also enjoyed watching sports and was an avid UNL fan.
Wanda passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. She was 94 years of age.
Survivors include son, Robert Larson and wife, Virginia, of Summerfield, Fla.; daughter, Kay and husband, Gene Haarberg of Imperial, Neb.; son, Al Larson and wife, Susan, of Wichita, Kan.; sister-in-law, Marge Larson of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren: Keeli and Mark Yonkers of Bridgeport, Neb., Dirk and Elizabeth Haarberg of Imperial, Robert and Michelle Larson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Tami Larson of Houston, Texas, Kara and Chad Landwehr of Wichita, Kan., Jennifer and Jonathon Shockley of Wichita, Kan.; 14 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Eilert and Anna Ackerman; husband, Wilbur; eight brothers and one sister; and one granddaughter, Joet Haarberg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Neb., with Pastor David Kahle officiating.
Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb.
A memorial has been established in Wanda’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church, Imperial, Neb.
Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
