Loron Cooper - December 20, 2008


E. Loron Cooper, 85, of Brush, Colo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the Cedar Care Center in Lakewood, Colo. He was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Eldin and Kathyren Cooper.
On Oct. 24, 1954, Loron married Dorothy Krueger in Brush.
Loron graduated from Lindsborg College with a bachelor’s degree. He continued at the University of Colorado in his post graduate studies.
Prior to retirement, Loron had worked for Western Airlines, was a high school band teacher for 26 years, and was the former owner of the Liquor Mart in Brush.
He taught music education in Bucklin, Kan., from 1961 - 1969. In 1967 the band that Loron directed was invited to participate in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif. He taught music education at Wauneta High School, Wauneta, Neb., from 1970 - 1983.
The Coopers moved to Brush in 1983.
Loron was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a former member of the Rotary Club in Brush. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He especially enjoyed taking cruises with his wife.
He loved Sousa band music, semi-classical music and listening to big band music.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Brush; two children: Scott and his wife, Maryann, of Arvada, Colo., and Darlene and her husband, Jay Gjovik of Scottsbluff, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 603 Custer Street, in Brush on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. The service was concluded at the church.
Interment followed in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush.
The Heer Mortuary in Brush was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
