James “Jim” Majors - March 15, 2013
James Ivan Majors, age 78, died peacefully at home in Rogersville, Mo., March 15, 2013.
Jim was born May 16, 1934, in Imperial, Neb., to William H. and Cora Etta Dukes Majors.
He attended school in Imperial, Wauneta and graduated high school in Oshkosh, Neb., where he was an outstanding three sport athlete.
He attended the University of Nebraska on a football scholarship and also attended Hastings College, in Hastings, Neb. His love of competition continued as he won multiple shot put titles in the Show Me State Games and Senior Olympics.
Jim was married to Joann Goddard for 58 years to which this happy union four children were born: Nancy Jo Tiffany Crockett (husband, Burt) of Clinton, Mo., Donald James Majors of Seymour, Mo., Susan Diann Majors of Nixa, Mo., and Mark Leon Majors (wife, Julie) of Columbia, Mo. Survivors also include four grandchildren: Justin Tiffany, (wife, Sara), Megan Tiffany, Alexandra Majors, James Raymond Majors; two step grandsons: Rob Crockett and Burt Crockett, Jr.; and two great grandchildren, Ava Mae and Grace Tiffany.
Jim was employed with JCPenney for 38 years. The family resided in Colorado Springs, Colo., Albuquerque, N.M., Kansas City and Overland Park, Kan., Salt Lake City, Utah, Dodge City, Kan., Columbia, Mo., and Rogersville, Mo.
Jim retired at age 60 to follow his lifelong dream of cattle ranching.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elmira Fielder and Vi Piva; and two brothers, Bill Majors and Keith Majors.
Jim leaves one brother, Don Majors and wife, Bonnie, of Wauneta, Neb.; sister-in-law, Ibbie Majors, North Platte, Neb.; father-in-law, Leon Stinnnette, Broomfield, Colo.; and brother-in-law, Jim Goddard and wife, Meda, Berthoud, Colo.; many nieces, nephews and great friends.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or charity of donor’s choice.
Cremation is under direction of Lee & Sons, Rogersville, Mo.
