Harold “Peco” Anderson - January 26, 2013


Harold “Peco” Anderson was born Aug. 22, 1940, in Ogallala, Neb., to Andrew F. and Verna L. (Samuelson) Anderson. Harold’s father nicknamed him “Peco” from the very beginning.
Peco was raised in the Wauneta and Hayes Center, Neb., areas his whole life, with the exception of living several years in the Colorado Mountains near Guffy, Colo.
Peco graduated from Wauneta High School in 1958. On Feb. 13, 1960, he married Doretta McBride and to this union two sons, Andrew R. and Hugh L., were born.
Peco was employed by the Wauneta Coop Oil for 40 years, 20 years as shop foreman and 10 years as the manager. He was a big Nebraska Football fan.
Peco passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 26, 2013, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. He was 72 years old.
Survivors include wife, Doretta of Wauneta; son, Hugh Anderson and wife, Nancy, of Benkelman, Neb.; three grandsons, Benjamin and Joshua Anderson, Zachary and wife, Kristen Kuhns; great-grandchildren, Andrew R. and Lillian; brother, Ted Anderson of Wauneta, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Madolyn and husband, Bob Morris, of North Glenn, Colo., Colleen and husband, Ben Garton, of Windsor, Colo.; brothers-in-law, Gary “Butch” Doetker of Wauneta, Neb., Bob McBride, of Wauneta, Neb.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. MT Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, 2013, at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, Neb., with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
Organist was Mrs. Diana Ham and soloist was Dawn Doetker.
Casketbearers were Ben Anderson, Josh Anderson, Zac (Anderson) Kuhns, Mike Maddux, Kelly Fanning and Brad Dixon.
Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
A memorial has been established in Peco’s memory.
